Images placed in the shopping cart initially are configured as framed canvas prints with possible print sizes of 20" x 20", 20" x 25" , or 20" x 30" , depending on the proportion of the print. You can select a different print size in the Configure page for the print. The print size refers to the approximate size of the print itself, excluding mat and frame.
Planetography prints come in five different proportions:
| standard - horizontal | |
| standard - vertical | |
| proportional - horizontal | |
| proportional - vertical | |
| square |
Each print comes in only one of the above formats. Standard format prints are the format that you are probably familiar with. Available standard format sizes are 8" x 10" , 12" x 15" , 16" x 20" , and 20" x 25" .
| Standard Format | |
| Horizontal | Vertical |
Proportional prints are in the ratio 1.5:1. Available sizes in the proportional format are 8" x 12" , 12" x 18" , 16" x 24" , and 20" x 30" . A full frame of 35mm film is in the proportional ratio.

Square prints are self-explanatory. They come in sizes: 8" x 8" , 12" x 12" , 16" x 16" , 20" x 20" , and 24" x 24" . A full frame medium format photograph is square.

Not all images can be printed in the larger print sizes. Some images do not hold up to extreme enlargement, and their maximum print size is limited. The maximum print size for an image is shown on the Detail page for the image. Also, if an image has been limited in print size, the larger print size choices will not be presented to you in the Configure page for that image.
Note that the format of the print is not necessarily an indication of what equipment took the photograph. For example, even though a Hasselblad medium format camera captures square images, we crop many images to the format that best enhances the original slide image, and you may find proportional or standard print formats for a medium format original photograph.
All canvas prints have two coats of varnish applied to protect the surface from air and moisture and provide UV protection. All traditional prints are sprayed with a UV spray to protect the surface from air and UV light.
